Jedd & Rachel Medefind

Jedd and Rachel Medefind have relished 25 years of marriage – with lots of savoring, struggling, forgiving, and growing in Christ along the way.  They’ve welcomed children through birth, adoption, and foster care – and now have five, age 14 to 22.

Rachel grew up as a missionary kid in the Philippines and today serves as Director of the Institute for Family-Centered Healing & Health at the Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO). After an early career in physical therapy, and many years homeschooling her children, she received a Master’s in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health from King’s College London, specializing in early adversity. Her recent book, When There Is Crisis: A Handbook for Christian Foster & Adoptive Families Facing Serious Struggle, offers biblically grounded, research-based guidance for families navigating seasons of crisis.

Jedd grew up on a small farm in central California and for the past 16 years has served as President of CAFO. Prior to this role, he led the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives under President George W. Bush and held several posts in the California State Legislature. He’s studied and served in more than forty countries, authored four books and many articles, and speaks widely on faith, leadership, and care for vulnerable children.
